It took some time but I now have regular weekly public yoga classes set up in London, in a very apt location: Upstairs in a super nice gastro pub The Selkirk, less than 5 minute walk from Tooting Broadway tubestation in South West London. The classes will take place every Wednesday at 10 am and at 6:30 pm. As a gastro pub The Selkirk also has a great selection food on offer (see a sample here) so you can combine your evening class with a drink and/or a meal.
The style of yoga taught is based on the YogaWorks method: The classes are fairly aligment based, with good explanations of the whys and whats of the postures (i.e. why we want to encourage a specific positioning of our joints, bones and muscles.) The asanas are put together in a safe and logical way, forming a slow flowing sequence and ending in a good lenght savansana, relaxation.
My aim in the classes is always to hold a friendly and fun space where everybody, regardless their experience (or non-experience) with yoga (or any other type of movement/exercise/fitness activities), feels welcomed and safe. In the past I have taught several regular beginners and intermediate classes, classes to men-only audience, worked with people who have suffered injuries and had operations done and with elderly people. You can read testimonials from the participants of my past classes here.
Please bring your own mat (I do have few spares so if you are new to yoga and want to try it out without investing in a mat, please get in touch with me in advance to see if I have a free mat to borrow) and wear suitable clothing (don’t forget something warm for the savasana, the nights can still be a bit chilly.) The lenght of the class is approximately 60 minutes and the cost is only 10 pounds.
Any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know!
