Hello and welcome to my blog. I’m Elina, I live on an Island in the East Med (there is only one…) and I write mainly about yoga and wellbeing topics around it. The name of the blog comes from being originally from Finland, the other side of Europe but still on the same timezone as I currently live on. And this, my friends, it is probably the only thing these two corners of the Continent have in common.
I have practised yoga (mainly hatha and asthanga system) for about 10 years and I have done my 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training with YogaWorks. Currently I am studying towards the Birthlight perinatal yoga teacher certification. I am an ex-competitive rower (8s, 4s, quads, single sculling) and have gone through few big injuries, teaching me valuable first hand lessons about (E/)ego, patience, rehabilitation and holistic approach to healing and bouncing (or crawling, as it sometimes felt) back to active lifestyle. I believe that in life it is as important to have a critical mind as it is to be curious and open minded. With this blog I want to demystify yoga and play a part in making it accessible to all, as I trust there is a style of yoga for everybody to support us in life.
Outside yoga I enjoy windsurfing, (SUP)surfing, just being by the water, dinners with friends, spotting as cheap as possible plane tickets to go and visit my friends in other countries and my 11 year young rescue dog who has been keeping me companion for the past two years. Animal welfare and sustainable living have been close to my heart all my life and I like to help out with the local rescues as much as I can. And because vegans cannot shut about the fact they are vegans, I eat mainly vegan, with the exception of small quantities of products that may contain dairy or eggs. Seriously speaking though, I find talking about people’s diets and eating habits extremely boring and my own are very simple which makes me a pretty easy dinner guest.
Most of the time write both in my native Finnish and in English. The texts are on the same topic but not direct translations, and if I add a link I try to make find one in the relevant language. If you speak both languages why not check both posts.
If you have any questions or there is something you would like me to write about, feel free to drop me a line. All the pictures are mine, unless otherwise stated. Please do not use them without my permission.
