Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m Elina, I am on the road after spending almost 8 years in Cyprus (you can always check my current whereabouts from here) and I write about yoga, general wellbeing and as-ecological-as-possible living.
The name of the blog comes from being originally from Finland, the other side of Europe but still on the same timezone as Cyprus is. After seven years spent in the academia and a 10+ years career in financial and information technology, I make my life these days by teaching yoga and doing freelance writing and translations. Among other things.
I have practised yoga for about 12 years now. In 2016 I completed my 200 hour teacher training with the YogaWorks system, under the guidance of Anna Zorzou and Vanessa Morton. I have deepened my asana knowledge with, among others, Stefano Bendandi, Vula Bolou (senior Iyengar teachers), Christopher Gladwell and Godfrey Deveroux, taken breathwork sessions with Viola Edward de Glanville, Michael de Glanville and Nadine Ruiter and studied Perinatal yoga with the Birthlight perinatal yoga teacher trainer Gisela Collazione.
As a life-long athlete I have gone through few big injuries, teaching me valuable first hand lessons about (E/)ego, patience, rehabilitation and holistic approach to healing and bouncing (or crawling, as it sometimes felt) back to active lifestyle. I believe that in life it is as important to have a critical mind as it is to be curious and open minded. With this blog I want to demystify yoga (and give tips on how to simplify life in general, as yoga helps with that too) and play a part in making it accessible to all, as I trust there is a style of yoga for everybody to support us in life. My main interests in yoga lies in injury prevention and rehabilitation and improving general body awareness and mobility for those attending my classes.
I write both in my native Finnish and in English. Sometimes the posts are about the same topic, sometimes I do a post just in one language. If you speak both languages do check both the English and Suomi tabs.
If you have any questions or there is something you would like me to write about, feel free to drop me a line. All the pictures are mine, unless otherwise stated. Please do not use them (or any other content featured here) without my permission.
